Significance & Devotional Heritage
The temple preserves the purest Gaudiya Vaishnava traditions. In the temple kitchen, cooking fire has burned continuously for over 500 years without ever being extinguished, used to prepare 54 elaborate bhog offerings daily.
Established in 1542 CE by Srila Gopal Bhatta Goswami, one of the direct disciples of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Desiring to serve the Lord in a murti form, his sacred Damodara Shaligram stone miraculously self-manifested on the full moon day of Vaisakha into the exquisitely detailed tri-curved form of Radha Raman.
